Why is my Marquis 5000 Onan not getting gas?

1. when feeding gas into the carburator line manually the generator runs fine, idles fine and sounds fine. 2. when I disconnect the fuel line and hardwire the fuel pump to a battery, it works fine and pumps gas into a bucket great!. The soleniod clicks and works great as well.
