Is the Coleman Mach heat pump an effective heat source?
The Coleman-Mach heat pump is an effective heat source, as long as outdoor temperatures are above 45°F. Below 45°F, there is not enough heat outside for the system to absorb, and efficiency drops. With a lack of heat, you will run into a freeze up situation that will shut down your compressor, but leave the indoor blower running.
Can a stock run capacitor overheat an AC compressor?
The compressor only needs that extra juice to get started, after that the stock run capacitor is plenty and having too much boost can overheat the compressor.

We do see that there is a Mach “HP2” on their website now, which advertises as both a reverse-cycle heat pump and electric heat model, so perhaps that is what you’re talking about.

Can a Coleman Mach 8 15K be mounted under a shroud?
I have a Coleman Mach 8 15K that I’m getting ready to mount (shell off renovation of a 1958 airstream). There isn’t room in the electrical box, even with the start cap removed, your box is longer. The only place I see to mount it under the shroud would interfere with cool air flow off the indoor coil.
