Where are the adjustment screws on the Onan carb?
Carb rebuilt, intake torn down and re-sealed. There are 2 adjustment screws on the carb. One is for idle RPM, I know how to adjust it. I don’t know what the other screw is called. It is the big one that is located on the front of the carb.
How to adjust throttle plate on Onan tractor?
Run the engine until it’s warmed up, then turn the screw in or out until the idle increases and maxes out. Then, turn the screw clockwise to reduce the rpm slightly, 50-75 rpm, set your final idle speed to spec with the throttle plate adjustment screw and that’s about it.
Where are the fuel screws on an Onan generator?
Locate the carburetor fuel adjustment screws, which may vary depending on the model. There is a main or high speed fuel adjustment, a low or idle speed fuel adjustment and an idle stop or throttle screw.

What happens when you loosen the fuel mixture screw?
1 Loosening the screw strengthens the air and fuel mixture and increases the amount of fuel flowing to the engine. 2 Loosening the screw is also called making the fuel mixture richer, which increases the RPMs at which the engine idles. 3 Running a rich fuel mixture causes the engine to run with more fuel than it needs to operate efficiently.
What do you need to know about an Onan generator?
Before any evaluation of the controls, regulator or generator can proceed, the Onan engine must have oil and fuel, be in running condition and the 12-volt battery charged. The electronic governor, 151-0752, on Models BGM and NHM, Spec B and later, must be functioning properly.
How is an air fuel mixture screw adjusted?
Adjusting this screw changes how fast or slow an engine idles and how smoothly it runs. The basic process for adjusting an air fuel mixture screw is the same for all small engines, whether it’s on a car, motorcycle, or other type of engine. Make adjustments with the engine warmed up and running.
When to turn idle mixture screw in or out?
With the engine running try turning the idle speed screw (throttle stop) in until the engine maintains a constant rpm without throttle input, then turn the screw out until you get the desired rpm or engine speed (aprox 1,000 rpm, by ear). If this isn’t the problem, then I can help you move the the next step.
