How does a gas RV refrigerator work?
An RV refrigerator works by absorption and a chemical reaction between ammonia, water, and hydrogen. The ammonia is heated then goes through an evaporation and condensation process which causes the cooling effect of the fridge. The ammonia is heated either by a propane flame or electric element.
Is the AC Light on on the Norcold fridge?
The MH was plugged into shore power and the AC light was on, on the control panel. The fridge light comes on when the door is opened but everything in the freezer was thawed out. I checked the fuse in the main fuse panel and it appears OK. If I unplug the MH, the propane fires instantly and the fridge begins cooling.

What should I use to clean my Norcold refrigerator?
Do not use abrasive cleaners, chemicals, or scouring pads because they can damage the interior of the refrigerator. Wash the interior with a mild cleaner or a solution of liquid dish detergent and warm water. Rinse with a solution of baking soda and clean water.
What kind of power does a Norcold refrigerator use?
Norcold gas absorption refrigerators operate off of 12V DC power (battery power). The AC plug that you see in the back is only powering your AC Heater/s that will cool the refrigerator when running it on AC or Auto Mode. The 12V DC powers the rear power board, the front control board, and the interior light.

What does a Norcold fridge look like on a Dometic fridge?
It should look like the part in the picture below if you have a Norcold fridge, if you have a Dometic fridge it may look slightly different because sometimes Dometic uses a burner assembly where the orifice and the burner tube are one piece. The Norcold burner assembly has a burner tube with the orifice screwed onto the end.
What to do if your Norcold refrigerator won’t turn on?
Simply follow the two lines coming from your 12V DC + and – terminals on the board to the right. You may have a push button switch that has gone off. For either one of these situations, it’s important to take the proper safety precautions. Make sure there is no yellow powder or residue on or near the cooling unit or any smell of ammonia.
