Push the dip stick up the tube and retrieve it (or have your assistant do it– many will volunteer to do that part in exchange for an adult beverage). Slip on the new O ring (s) and reinstall. As always when working under a coach, be sure you have safety stands in place before going under the coach.

Why does my Allison Transmission have a blank display?
1) Transmission ECM fuse inside of the battery box! Corroded fuse holder! Replace the fuse even if it doesn’t look or test out bad. Check these first. 2) The ECM on most Allison Transmissions are always fed power. The problem with this is that the power wire could be corroded internally or at a butt connector.

Can you change transynd on an Allison 1000?
If you have this fluid you can use the extended service intervals. There should be a decal near the transmission dipstick tube stating to only fill with Transynd if this is the case. Servicing an Allison 1000 with a spin-on filter isn’t that much different than changing oil on your car’s engine.
