Any anime that you download for free from the internet is free unless you order it online. But you can still download the anime for free, because most people won't mind unless they get a license in the United States or another country.

The nest has no place. Anyone who tells you that there are sites with free and legal clips is fine. But I think the closest thing to the law is to buy a DVD and then use the Magic DVD Wrapper or similar software to copy the clips to your computer.
Also, some places post links to download cartoons without permission. There should be no problem downloading it, because Anneser doesn't really care, but anyway. One of the places I know of is Aarinfantasy. However, this clip is not perfect for AMVs because it has subtitles.

ITunes, but the number is very limited. If the problem is that you don't want your AMV to sue for copyright infringement, the best solution is to ask the anime to "claim entertainment." Of course, and it doesn't matter if you have a video, whether it's a torrent or a DVD rip, as long as you're allowed to make MVs.
